الوصف

Aviation Safety – The Basics introduces the core ideas, methods, and programs used to improve safety across aviation. It begins with the philosophy of safety, including cost/benefit thinking and the need for a balanced safety approach that can coexist with production goals. The book then moves into Safety Management Systems (SMS), explaining the four pillars—safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion—along with roles such as the accountable executive. Subsequent chapters cover accident investigation theory and practical investigation topics such as site safety, wreckage analysis, photography, and working groups. The text also addresses general aviation accidents, proactive flight safety programs (FOQA, ASAP, LOSA), human factors (HFACS and the Swiss Cheese model), and key hazards including hazardous attitudes, anti-drug programs, pilot decision making, midair collision avoidance, bird strike mitigation, fatigue, and hazardous weather.

معاينة

In successful aviation organizations, the management of safety is a core business function – as is financial management. We often hear aviation professionals tell us that nothing is more important than safety. Can safety really be the number one objective? Probably not. Successful aviation organizations establish an effective safety management that has a realistic balance between safety and production goals. The finite limits of personnel, time, resources, financing, and operational performance must be accepted in any industry. If properly implemented, safety management maximizes both safety and the operational effectiveness of an organization. Safety must co-exist with our production objectives. There is no aviation organization that has been created to deliver only safety.
