الوصف

In “The Call of the Wild,” Buck is a powerful, well-cared-for dog living in comfort—until changing conditions and human greed uproot him and push him into the harsh North. After being torn from his familiar life, Buck must survive a world where instincts matter more than manners. As he endures violence and loss, he learns the rules of club, fang, hunger, and endurance, and discovers a deeper pull in his nature. The story follows Buck’s transformation from proud pet to fierce leader in the wilderness, culminating in a final reckoning with freedom and the primal call that draws him beyond human claims.

Chapter I
Into the Primitive
“Old longings nomadic leap,
Chafing at custom’s chain;
Again from its brumal sleep Wakens the ferine strain.”

Buck did not read the newspapers, or he would have known that trouble was brewing, not alone for himself, but for every tide-water dog, strong of muscle and with warm, long hair, from Puget Sound to San Diego.
